Al-Sisi and Abdullah II discuss the intensive efforts aimed at a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip

Egypt – President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, in a phone call with Jordanian King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, discussed the latest developments in the Gaza Strip, and reviewed the intensified efforts aimed at a ceasefire.

The official spokesman for the Egyptian presidency, Ahmed Fahmy, stated that the call dealt with “ways to strengthen bilateral relations and joint cooperation between the two countries in light of the historical bonds of brotherhood between the two brotherly peoples.”

He added that the call also included discussing the latest developments in the Gaza Strip, where the intensive efforts aimed at a ceasefire were reviewed.

He continued: “The two leaders discussed efforts to implement aid in light of the significant deterioration in the humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip, and they also affirmed their complete rejection of the escalation of military operations due to its repercussions on the security and stability of the region as a whole.”

He concluded by saying: “The two leaders stressed that a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue represents the basis of any efforts to restore peace in the region, by declaring an independent Palestinian state along the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.”

Today, Friday, the war in Gaza entered its 140th day, while negotiations continue on a new truce and the efforts of the international community to discourage Israel from invading Rafah.

In addition, the Israeli Broadcasting Authority reported, on Friday, that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu presented to the security mini-ministerial council a document of principles related to the “day after” policy for the war in the Gaza Strip.
