Hani Bakri, the lawyer of Moroccan international Mohamed El-Shaibi, a player for the Egyptian Pyramids football team, said that his client was wronged by the Egyptian Football Association with its recent decisions, which ordered him to be suspended for 6 matches, on the grounds that he was not entitled to resort to civil justice against Hussein El-Shahat, the Al-Ahly player.
Al-Shaibi’s lawyer stressed, in an official statement, that the Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAS) had done justice to the player, just as the Egyptian judiciary had previously done justice to him, and he continued: “What is being reported in the media is news from the mouth of Egyptian Federation officials regarding the fact that the ‘TAS’ court has suspended the implementation of the penalty issued.” Al-Sheibi’s right, until the matter is decided by the Egyptian Federation’s Appeals Committee, is completely false.”
The same source added: “TAS decided to suspend the implementation of the penalty until it decides on the merits of the case with a final ruling, and not until the decision of the Appeals Committee of the Egyptian Football Association is issued, and any statement otherwise is considered a violation of the regulations and rules of the International Sports Court.”
The same lawyer explained that “the contested decision before ‘TAS’ reached the point of seriousness and a serious legal error in a way that called for ‘TAS’ to intervene immediately, in fairness to the rights of the player Muhammad Al-Shaibi and to achieve justice,” and concluded: “TAS’s decision is a positive indicator of Al-Shaibi’s right.” In canceling the decision of the Football Association from an objective perspective later in the final ruling of the International Sports Court.”
