The second session was held in the Nasr City Misdemeanor Court, regarding the case of Egyptian player Hussein Shahat assaulting Moroccan international Mohamed El-Sheibi, physically and verbally, during the match between the Al-Ahly football team and Pyramids last year.
The two players failed to attend the session that witnessed the defense of both parties, as Al-Chibi’s lawyer demanded that the charge presented to the prosecution be amended by assaulting his client by beating, in accordance with Article 42, and not “an altercation,” stressing that in addition to the direct physical and psychological harm that the Moroccan player suffered, his mother also suffered. She suffered a health crisis after witnessing the aforementioned events.
For his part, Al-Shahat’s defense demanded that the file be referred to the Supreme Constitutional Court, stressing that what his client is pursuing remains a simple assault misdemeanor, represented in a reaction to a provocative act beforehand, which ended with a documented audio-video reconciliation between the two parties.
The Egyptian Football Association is in a state of alert to contain the problem, which was not expected to last this long, or that it would take on judicial dimensions after the Moroccan player resorted to the civil courts for justice, as the Federation intensifies its attempts to reach an amicable solution that satisfies all parties and close the file once and for all.
The Disciplinary Committee of the Egyptian Federation entered the line, to increase pressure on Mohamed El-Shaibi, as it finally heard from him regarding the “legality” of his resorting to the civil judiciary in a purely sporting case, hinting at the possibility of imposing an arrest penalty on him, in order to push him to withdraw the lawsuit he filed against El-Shahat.
