Al-Jaish is the most prominent candidate to win the championship

Former Moroccan international Mustafa Lamrani believes that the Royal Army is the team closest to winning the professional league title, and deserves it thanks to the technical stability it has experienced in recent years.

The former brigadier general of the Royal Army, who won the historic treble with Moghreb Fes, spoke to “Hesport” about the reasons for the brilliance of the Royal Army in recent years, and about his personal vision regarding the team’s future in the continental championships.

In this special interview, Lamrani also gave his opinion regarding the level of the Moroccan national team and national football in general.

What do you think of the level of the Royal Army in recent years?

The Royal Army has a good team, and is experiencing a distinguished period due to the infrastructure available to it and also stability at the technical level, and there is great work within the corridors of the club that gives it the strength to achieve titles.

Do you think that the Royal Army will win the title despite the competition with Raja?

For me, Al-Jaish is the most prominent candidate to win the championship title this season. I believe that he can also be crowned in the next edition, given the stability he is experiencing, as I said, at all levels, taking into account the problems experienced by the Casablanca sports poles, Wydad and Raja. By 90 percent, I expect him to be crowned this year, despite the competition with Raja.

What was the army missing during your era to win titles?

We were close to achieving the 2013 title, and the difference was small in front of the champion at that time, Raja.. but it is true that some small details did not help us in winning the crown; Some of them are sometimes technical, and some matches are not well managed as well.

Can “Al-Asaker” compete for continental titles in the future?

The team will play in the African Champions League next season, and the players must have continental experience in order to win such titles. Currently, there are players who have never participated in this tournament, and it will be difficult for them from the first time; But it is necessary to play in order to honor the shirt and achieve the best results.

How do you see the technical management of the team?

The army has had a distinguished training center for years, in addition to the Al-Fateh sports team. Something that other clubs miss. These aspects must be worked on in order to improve the level of clubs, and to benefit from this important aspect of football.

Do the tournament players currently deserve to be with the Moroccan national team?

For me, the local player needs to be configured, and there are major problems in this aspect in the first place.

The managers of the Sunni groups are suffering financially. Which reflects negatively on what they offer to young players. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to these groups in order to provide everything they have to the rising generation.

Returning to the local player in the national team, he must impose himself and his personality, gain confidence and try to compete with players coming from European countries in the service of the country.

What do you think about the level of the Moroccan national team?

It is true that we reached the semi-finals of the World Cup in 2022; But work must be done to develop the level and raise it with the aspirations of the Moroccan fans, even though there were mistakes committed in that tournament that did not become apparent due to the joy of achievement.

There are many things being discussed and everyone talked about the African Cup choices. We must overcome these matters and work on what is best.

It won a historic hat-trick with “Al-Mas” and the team is currently suffering.. What do you think?

Even though we won the historic treble with Morocco-Fez, we were suffering financially during that period, and the situation is similar to what is happening now with bad results. I do not follow much, and I hope the situation will be better.
