A new book by the poet and writer Hassan Al-Hadary, entitled “Contemporary Arabic Poetry between Standards and Cautions,” was published by Dar Diwan Al-Arab for Publishing and Distribution in Cairo, in one hundred and twenty-four large-format pages.
In this book, the author discusses the transformations of contemporary Arabic poetry, which he believes has taken some of them far-reaching paths and taken new forms that have deviated from the concept and name of poetry.
The publication came in three chapters, in which Al-Hadary stressed that poetry has a specific definition that was created for it and should not be overlooked, and that anything that does not meet its components and rules contained in its definition should not be included under it.
The first chapter is titled “Arabic Poetry and the Stages of Its Development until the End of the Abbasid Era,” in which Al-Hadary discusses the concept of poetry and its status among Arabs, and the stages of development of Arabic poetry until the end of the Abbasid era. The second chapter is titled “Arabic Poetry from the Age of Stagnation to the Modern Renaissance,” in which he discusses: Arabic poetry from stagnation to revival, then moves on to modern schools of poetry and the transformations of the Arabic poem. The third chapter is titled “The Modernist Poem in the Balance of Criticism,” in which the author discusses poetic renewal from the perspective of the Holy Qur’an and the scientific method, then moves on to the issue of deviation from the pillar of poetry.
It is noteworthy that the writer and poet Hassan Al-Hadary has accumulated abundant publications; before this book, he has published nine collections of poetry, a book on prosody entitled “The Correct in Prosody”, a book on literary criticism and the miracle of the Qur’an entitled “The Holy Qur’an Determines the Nature of Literature”, a book entitled “Vagabond Poets between Class Difference and Intellectual Consensus”, the book “Lines from Reality”, and the book “Critical Visions”. The same writer has also published scientific research and critical studies in a number of scientific and cultural magazines in Egypt and Arab and Islamic countries; the most important of these research and studies are:
“The theatrical scenario in the poetry of Al-A’sha and Ibn Khadham between reality and significance, the scale of criticism according to the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, the significance of the word and context in interpreting the Qur’an and judging the hadith, the significance of the formula and context in deducing the Qur’anic meaning, pauses with the investigation of the Diwan of Urwah ibn al-Ward, pauses with the investigation of the Diwan of al-Shanfara” and others.
