Although the United States has repeatedly affirmed its continued support for Israel despite the recent disagreements between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Joe Biden, Tel Aviv has not obtained all the weapons it requested.

General Charles Q. Brown, Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, explained that Israel has not received all the weapons it requested, because some of them may affect the readiness of the US Army, and there are limits to its capabilities.

“Although we support them with capabilities, they did not receive everything they asked for,” Brown said in a speech he delivered during an event hosted by the Defense Writers Group yesterday, Thursday, according to what Reuters reported.

What’s the reason?

He also added, “The reason is that the Israeli side requested things that the army does not currently have the ability to provide or that the country does not wish to provide now.”

A spokesman for Brown later clarified that his statements referred to “a standard practice before providing military aid to any of America’s allies and partners.” Navy Captain Grell Dorsey added in a statement, “We are evaluating US stockpiles and any potential impact on our readiness to determine our ability to provide the required assistance.”

In addition, he stressed that “there will be no change in American policy, stressing that his country continues to provide security assistance to its ally Israel during its defense against Hamas,” he said.

$3.8 billion to Israel

These statements came after US Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, met with Israeli Defense Minister, Yoav Galant, in Washington earlier this week.

While the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) announced that they discussed security assistance to Israel.

The Israeli attack on the Gaza Strip, with the number of Palestinian civilian deaths rising to more than 32,000, sparked widespread opposition within the Democratic Party to which Biden belongs, prompting thousands to choose “non-committed” on the ballot paper for the primary elections, which the party conducted to choose its presidential candidate. at recent days.

It is noteworthy that Washington provides annual military aid worth $3.8 billion to Israel, its long-time ally.

The United States often expedites the delivery of air defenses and munitions to Israel, but some Democrats and groups of Arab Americans have recently criticized the Biden administration’s consistent support for Tel Aviv, which they say has given it a sense of impunity.
