His Excellency Dr. Sheikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, met with retired General John Abizaid, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the American Middle East Institute, on the occasion of his visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
During the meeting, His Excellency the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s keenness to consolidate the bonds of historical friendship and strategic partnership with the United States of America, and to strengthen them in light of the Comprehensive Agreement on Security Integration and Prosperity in order to achieve common interests, congratulating the Middle East Institute on the occasion of the seventy-fifth anniversary of its founding in Washington.
The two sides reviewed developments in the situation in the Middle East region, and the prospects for cooperation, exchanging experiences, and enhancing the role of cultural and intellectual diplomacy in consolidating regional and international security, peace, and prosperity, combating extremism and terrorism, and constructive dialogue in resolving conflicts and finding comprehensive peaceful solutions to international crises and tensions, foremost among which is the solution to the Palestinian issue.
For his part, retired General John Abizaid praised the close historical Bahraini-American relations and the progress and prosperity they are witnessing in various fields, praising the efforts of the Kingdom of Bahrain as an active and pivotal partner in establishing security, stability and peaceful coexistence in the region and the world.
