Captain Walid Al Alawi, President of the Bahrain Basketball Federation, on his behalf and on behalf of the members of the Federation’s Board of Directors, extended sincere thanks, great appreciation and gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Isa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs, Vice President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, for his sponsorship of the final match of the Khalifa Bin Khalifa Cup. Salman for the 2023-2024 sports season and crowning the champion team, Manama, with the cup, gold medals and a financial reward, and the second-place finisher, Al-Ahly, receiving the silver medals and financial reward, as well as honoring the refereeing team that managed the final match.
Al-Alawi said that the Khalifa bin Salman Basketball Cup has certainly become among the competitions that carry the greatest importance in sports in the Kingdom of Bahrain, as it bears a name dear to everyone, especially the sports family, which is the late, God Almighty willing, His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, who He has always shown great interest in Bahraini sports and made it a priority, especially since it embraces an elite group of Bahraini youth, indicating that the Federation is proud to organize this tournament and to continue it for the seventh consecutive season.
Al-Alawi congratulated the Manama Club team on its victory in the Khalifa bin Salman Cup championship after defeating Al-Ahly Club team in the final match of the tournament, thus winning this title under its current name for the third time after the 2017-2018 and 2022-2023 seasons.
The President of the Basketball Association pointed out that the Manama team’s coronation was well-deserved after its players gave an outstanding performance in the final match and all the tournament matches.
Al-Alawi praised the great work presented by the Board of Directors of the Manama Club, headed by Mr. Youssef Zaman, which contributed to its crowning of the cup title for the third time under its current name and for the twenty-second time as a whole in the club’s history. He expressed his appreciation for the performance and contribution that Al-Ahly players also gave in the match, wishing the best of luck. To the team during the upcoming events, and thanking the efforts of the club’s Board of Directors, headed by Mr. Khaled Kanoo, to develop basketball in the club.
