Her Excellency Ms. Nour bint Ali Al Khalif, Minister of Sustainable Development, confirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain attaches great importance to establishing partnerships and creating renewed horizons for cooperation and joint work with various countries and organizations, in a way that contributes to confronting various climate changes and impacts. Her Excellency pointed out the importance of continuing to launch and implement international initiatives that aim to Enhancing environmental security, pointing out the pivotal role of the private sector as a partner to governments in achieving this.

This came during the participation of Her Excellency the Minister of Sustainable Development in the high-level round table meeting on financing climate action by promoting sustainable financing, within the framework of Her Excellency’s participation within the delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain participating in the World Government Summit headed by His Excellency Sheikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy. , held in Dubai, the sisterly United Arab Emirates.

The Minister pointed out that the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the country, may God protect and preserve him, and with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him, has launched many initiatives and plans aimed at enhancing security. environment and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060, including the announcement by His Majesty the King of the country, may God protect and preserve him, of the launch of the national action plan “Blueprint Bahrain”, to achieve carbon neutrality through three paths: low-carbon economy, adaptation to climate change, and creating opportunities. Sustainable in the new green economy, noting in this regard the keenness to continue developing partnership opportunities with the private sector to enhance environmental security as a strategic partner that contributes to supporting the goals of the comprehensive development process.

In this regard, the Minister also referred to the regulatory frameworks launched by the Central Bank of Bahrain in the Kingdom of Bahrain with the aim of preparing environmental, social and governance reports, and the announcement by Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company “Mumtalakat” of a new investment portfolio for climate solutions “Climate Solutions Partners” to reach an investment capital of approximately 750. One million dollars to invest in commercial companies in the growth stage specialized in providing support to reduce the effects of carbon emissions around the world, and to establish the “Safaa” platform to offset carbon emissions, the revenues of which will be directed to finance regional and international projects specialized in this.

A number of ministers and senior officials participated in the high-level meeting, including His Excellency Mr. Mohammed bin Hadi Al Husseini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, and His Excellency Mr. Jassim Mohammed Al Budawi, Secretary General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, in addition to His Excellency Ms. Kristalina Georgieva, Director General Director of the International Monetary Fund, and His Excellency Dr. Jihad Azour, Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department at the International Monetary Fund, were key speakers at the meeting, who in turn touched on the various tools for financing climate action and the most prominent initiatives and policies in this regard.
