The eighth edition of the Bahrain Food Festival, which was recently held at Marassi Al Bahrain in Diyar Al Muharraq, attracted more than 227,000 visitors over twenty days during the period between 8 and 27 February, an increase of 35% over last year when the festival recorded 168,000 visitors. This year’s edition is the largest ever, according to statistics from the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority.

On this occasion, Her Excellency Mrs. Sarah Ahmed Buhiji, CEO of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, said, “We are very pleased with the remarkable success achieved by the Bahrain Food Festival in its edition this year, which was translated by the great public demand from visitors, which prompted us to extend the festival for an additional three days to make room for all those wishing to attend.” Its distinguished activities, and this success came as a result of the efforts made by the Authority’s team to organize the festival with all dedication and determination to emerge in the most splendid and finest form, and in a way that ensures the diversity of accompanying activities to provide its guests, including citizens, residents, and visitors from inside and outside the Kingdom of Bahrain, with an exceptional experience in hospitality and entertainment, and to enjoy an enjoyable family atmosphere in Marassi Al Bahrain Hospitality.

Buhiji added that the annual development witnessed by the food festival reflects the progress and prosperity achieved by the hospitality and restaurant sector in the Kingdom, with the Authority’s support for Bahraini entrepreneurs in this promising sector, within the framework of its constant keenness to enhance tourism cooperation with the private sector, thus doubling the contribution of hospitality to comprehensive tourism development. It is also consistent with the objectives of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s tourism strategy for the years (2022-2026) to diversify the tourism product, attract more tourists, and enhance the Kingdom’s position as a preferred tourist destination regionally and internationally.

This year, the Bahrain Food Festival attracted large numbers of citizens, residents, visitors and tourists from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and various parts of the world, as the festival provided them with an exceptional tasting experience at Marassi Al Bahrain with the participation of 121 hospitality establishments, including restaurants, cafes, and productive Bahraini families.

Visitors were also able to enjoy a full program of performances and entertainment events that targeted all ages and nationalities. These performances extended throughout the days of the festival and varied between artistic and musical performances, performances by folk art bands and roaming artistic bands, and live cooking demonstrations presented by a group of top chefs across the Kingdom. Bahrain is on a cooking platform specially designed for them to present their new and innovative recipes.

The festival also included a cooking challenge in which 16 contestants participated in 14 rounds in front of a jury consisting of 3 judges of professional chefs and bloggers interested in food and the world of cooking. The festival also included an event to honor a number of the sons of heroic martyrs of duty. The festival provided its visitors with the opportunity to learn about many… Various Gulf, Arab and international flavors, with dozens of food stalls and carts spread across Marassi Al Bahrain, in addition to the presence of the popular village, which provided the favorite Bahraini cuisine among festival visitors.
