The Arab Parliamentary Group in the Inter-Parliamentary Union nominated Representative Abdulnabi Salman, First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and member of the Union’s Permanent Committee for International Peace and Security, to be a rapporteur for the Arab Parliamentary Group in discussing a topic related to “the role of parliaments in supporting the two-state solution in Palestine.”
The committee decided to nominate Representative Salman as rapporteur representing the Arab group, after he presented, at the committee’s bureau meeting, a proposal for the aforementioned topic to be included in the agenda of the 150th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which will be held in Kazakhstan during April of the year 2025, as a topic for discussion on “the role of parliaments in Supporting the two-state solution in Palestine.”
The aforementioned proposal was widely welcomed by representatives of the parliaments of the countries participating in the meetings of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
Salman stated that the meeting of the Bureau of the Permanent Committee for International Peace and Security included discussing the importance of the Inter-Parliamentary Union’s contribution to the Palestinian issue, and what is happening in the Gaza Strip, stressing the need for the committee to take concrete steps towards this issue, which occupies a top priority by the international community.
For her part, Ms. Hala Ramzi Fayez, member of the Shura Council and member of the Office of Women Parliamentarians in the Inter-Parliamentary Union, participated in the meeting of the Office of the Standing Committee for International Peace and Security, representing the Office of Women Parliamentarians.
