The British city of Manchester is still in shock over the case of a mathematics teacher who had a “relationship” with two minor students at different times.
The 30-year-old teacher, Rebecca Joynes, had a relationship with a 15-year-old underage student (A). She was arrested by the police and then spent her release on bail living a secret life.
However, she returned and established a “relationship” with another student (B), aged 16, and she became pregnant by him and gave birth to a baby girl. Therefore, she was re-arrested and her trial began last Tuesday on 6 charges.
He told her that he would stay with his best friend
While new details were revealed during the ongoing trial sessions about Student A.
The mother of the minor student told the court yesterday how she stormed the school “terrified and astonished” after learning that her son had spent a night with the teacher, according to what was reported by the British newspaper “The Times”.
She also added, in a statement read to the court in Manchester, that her son returned home from school on a Friday, changed his clothes, packed a bag, and told her that he would spend the night with his close friend.
He denied it at first
But she received a call from the school on Monday morning saying there were allegations about her son being with his teacher.
So she went there, where a policeman told her about an anonymous report from Childline, an organization that supports children and boys, about a teacher and her son.
While the boy denied this, his best friend’s mother told her that he was not at their house.
“good-looking”
The boy had previously told his mother that his teacher was “good-looking, and everyone says so.” However, she laughed, thinking it was just a “typical teenage boy comment.”
However, he later told police that he had arranged to meet Joynes, who hosted him at her flat in Salford Quays, where they had an “intimate relationship” on two occasions.
The police were able to recover the messages she exchanged with him.
It is noteworthy that all the alleged crimes occurred between October 2021 and July 2022, and the trial is continuing against the teacher, who denies all charges against her.
