Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper revealed that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected a plan prepared by the security establishment with the support of the United States, which stipulates that members of the Fatah movement would control parts of the Gaza Strip.

The plan, which was supported by the United States, according to the Israeli newspaper, stipulated that the Israeli side would train Palestinians, specifically activists from Fatah, to confront Hamas’ influence in the Gaza Strip.

Also, according to the plan, the director of the Palestinian Intelligence Service, Majed Faraj, identifies between 4,000 and 7,000 Fatah activists inside Gaza so that Israel can examine them and ensure that there are no ties between them and Hamas.

The name of Major General Majid Faraj, head of the Palestinian General Intelligence Service in the West Bank, became widely circulated, and some even described him as the “man of this era” on whom Israeli hopes were pinned, as he came to the forefront of the security scene in Gaza after the end of the war.

However, this whole plan seemed to have fallen through when it was presented to Netanyahu, who refused to have employees from the Palestinian Authority participate in the scenario the next day in Gaza.

This sparked sharp criticism of Netanyahu from several Israeli political and military figures.
