Al Bilad newspaper Launching 60 seabirds at Aziziyah Beach in Sharqiya – 2024-04-14 22:18:07


The National Center for Wildlife Development in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced the release of 60 seabirds on Al Aziziyah Beach in the Eastern Province within their natural distribution range after their rehabilitation as part of international commitments and efforts to preserve these species.
The launch included 3 bar-headed night herons, 7 Caspian gulls, 46 bar-headed gulls, and 4 pointed-billed gulls, so that these creatures perform their environmental roles and contribute to enhancing biodiversity and environmental balance.
The CEO of the National Center for Wildlife Development, Muhammad Ali Qurban, said: The release of these types of seabirds comes after their rehabilitation, in light of the Center’s keenness to achieve its goals in sustaining wildlife, preserving ecosystems and their biodiversity, and enriching ecosystems.
He stressed that this launch contributes to achieving international commitments and efforts in preserving these species so that they can perform their environmental roles, in implementation of the national strategy for environmental conservation, and in achieving the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 to build a positive, attractive environment and improve the quality of life.

It is noteworthy that the National Center for Wildlife Development has been working, since its establishment in 2019, to develop and implement plans to address threats to wildlife, protect ecosystems, maintain their balance, and return endangered species to their natural habitats.
The center currently owns centers that are at the forefront of global centers specialized in propagating endangered species and settling them in their natural environments according to the strictest international standards, and a center for the rehabilitation of wild animals that have been injured or confiscated by violators of the environmental system and its executive regulations.
