An African investor was able to counterfeit 20 dinar banknotes using a fraudulent method that relied on taking the victims’ money, tricking them into doubling it, and fleeing with the money without doing so, which prompted the victim to file a report of the incident.

The details indicate that the victim got to know the accused through his frequenting her place of work, as she works as a transaction clerk, where the accused asked her for an amount of 5,000 dinars as an advance, and that he would return the amount to her after a week, doubled in the amount of 10,000 dinars. She liked the matter, so she told her friend about it, so her friend gave her an amount of 3,000. dinars, and she paid the remaining 2,000 dinars and handed the full amount to the accused. After the accused received the money, he fled and did not answer the victim’s calls, which prompted her to seek help from the police, who prepared an ambush for the accused through one of them communicating with the accused and mistaking him for being a businessman and wanting to meet him, and in fact he agreed. The accused wanted to meet him, so the policeman, accompanied by his colleague, went to the accused, and there they confronted him about the matter. The accused admitted to them that he would deliver the money to him in his apartment, so they went to the apartment. There, the accused entered his room and brought with him a financial package of 20 dinars, totaling 1,000 dinars. He decided to the witness that this was the advance amount and he would complete it later. However, when the security men counted the amount, they discovered that it was counterfeit by its texture, so the accused told them that and admitted to him that it was counterfeit, so they went to the accused’s room and there they saw many counterfeit currencies, so they filed a report about the incident.

Supplementary investigations into the incident indicated that the accused is skilled in fraud, which relies on deceiving the victims into doubling their money by following fraudulent methods, imitating the correct financial currencies through color scanning technology, and using some materials to copy, cut, and paste the currencies.

When the accused appeared before the court, he denied all the charges against him, while the court set a session for February 26 to appoint a lawyer for the accused.
