On World Press Freedom Day, we are pleased to express our great gratitude and appreciation to our national press, which carries out its noble mission of serving the nation with all competence and ability, through its firm commitment to the honor of the journalistic profession, and its adherence to honesty of speech and objectivity, within a framework of responsibility that supports the nation’s efforts on the path of development and maintains… On his gains.
As we join the international community in its celebration of World Press Freedom Day, which this year bears the slogan “Journalism for the Planet… Journalism in the Face of the Environmental Crisis,” we emphasize the centrality of the role of journalism in supporting the efforts of countries and governments to achieve global security and stability, as they are essential and indispensable needs. For the sake of human growth and prosperity.
The effects of climate change constitute a real challenge that threatens international peace and stability and the future of humanity, which requires everyone to come together to ensure the achievement of global environmental security. This increases the importance of the role of the press in raising local and global awareness by disseminating correct information and data, and motivating communities to take the initiative in order to preserve… the environment.
We in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and as part of our endeavors to promote sustainable development, have given wide attention to environmental issues and its preservation through many national initiatives, strategies and plans. The Kingdom has confirmed its commitment to the Paris Agreement and what it announced at the “Glasgow Summit” regarding reducing emissions, and has launched an action plan. The national “Blueprint Bahrain”, to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060, as well as the national energy strategy, the Climate Technology Fund and other initiatives, all within the Kingdom of Bahrain’s efforts to preserve the environment and human health, and in a way that supports the efforts of the international community towards a world with a better quality of life.
In this context; We would like to express our great appreciation for the efforts of our faithful Crown Prince, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and his leadership of the government’s efforts to achieve the growth and progress we aspire to for the nation, and his follow-up of what is being done to preserve the environment and sustain its resources.
In this regard, we call on our national press and media to continue paying attention to environmental issues, and to promote messages and content that raise the awareness of the individual and society regarding environmental issues and their impacts, in line with the steps taken by the Kingdom of Bahrain in this vital field.
On this occasion, we affirm our pride in the Bahraini journalistic and media cadres, and their keenness to develop their skills in line with the rapid developments in light of digital media and artificial intelligence, wishing them the continuation of their giving and creativity in everything that enhances the position of the Kingdom of Bahrain as a cultural center in the region. .
There is no doubt that our national press’s commitment to the constitutional and legal framework that supports and supports freedom of the press has enabled it to exercise its role with all openness, to be an effective and influential element in the nation’s renaissance and prosperity, which we consider today to be an example of honest and free speech that reflects the pulse and aspirations of society.
The selection of Manama as the Capital of Arab Media 2024 by the Council of Arab Information Ministers confirms the prestigious status that our press and national media have reached in light of their commitment to authentic journalistic values. We look forward to this selection prompting more Arab cooperation and convergence, especially with the Kingdom of Bahrain hosting business… The thirty-third Arab summit in the middle of this month.
On this occasion, we appreciate the efforts made by the Ministry of Information towards further advancement and development of journalistic and media work, appreciating its interest in young journalistic and media cadres and qualifying them to be up to the responsibility in expressing the nation’s renaissance and preserving its national identity.
