After US President Joe Biden announced for the first time early today, Thursday, that his administration would suspend the delivery of arms shipments to Israel, the Israeli response came.
The Israeli ambassador to the United Nations, Gilan Erdan, considered Biden’s statements “disappointing.”
He also added in an interview with the Israeli Broadcasting Authority, “The Jews are now hesitant about voting for the Democratic Party in the Israeli elections.”
2000 lb bombs
This came after the US President announced that he would suspend the delivery of arms shipments to Israel if its Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered his forces to invade the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.
He also indicated in an interview with the American CNN network on Wednesday evening that Palestinian civilians were killed in Gaza due to Israel’s use of bombs and other means in residential areas.
He confirmed that his administration decided to suspend the delivery of 2,000-pound bombs to the Israeli side last week.
In addition, he threatened to stop the delivery of further arms shipments if Israel invaded Rafah. He continued, “We continue to work to ensure Israel’s security with regard to Iron Dome and its ability to respond to the attacks that came from the Middle East recently… but we will not provide weapons and artillery ammunition.”
But at the same time, he considered that the military operations carried out by Israel in Rafah now “have not yet risen to the level of crossing the red line by entering densely populated areas.”
The Israeli forces warned residents in eastern Rafah two days ago and called on them to evacuate the neighborhoods in which they were located. They then carried out a ground advance and later took control of the Rafah crossing from the Palestinian side.
These developments came at a time when international warnings were raised about the invasion of the city, which is crowded with more than a million and a half displaced people, who fled the war in northern and central Gaza, and are still trapped in that southern city amid miserable living conditions.
