Several sources revealed details of the attack launched by Hezbollah on an Israeli force that crossed the border into Lebanon on Sunday night.

On Monday, Hezbollah said that it detonated explosive devices against Israeli soldiers after they crossed the border into Lebanese territory, while the Israeli army reported that 4 of its members were wounded in the northern border area.

This is the first time that Hezbollah has undertaken a similar operation since the start of the exchange of fire between the two sides in the wake of the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip since October 7.

Hezbollah said in a statement that its fighters planted “a number of explosive devices in the Tal Ismail area adjacent to the border with occupied Palestine inside Lebanese territory. When a force affiliated with the Golani Brigade crossed the border and arrived at the location of the devices, they were detonated.”

The Israeli army, for its part, announced in a statement that 4 of its soldiers were seriously injured as a result of “an explosion of unknown origin during Israeli army activity in the northern border region last night,” without specifying whether they crossed the border.

He explained that the incident is “under review.”

A Sky News Arabia correspondent reported that the explosion that injured the four soldiers occurred inside Lebanese territory, meaning that the Israeli soldiers crossed the border.

The Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth also said that the explosion occurred inside Lebanese territory.

She explained: “The soldiers were seriously, moderately and lightly wounded tens or hundreds of meters away inside Lebanese territory, and were evacuated by helicopter to the Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya.”

The operation comes after tension witnessed in the region over the weekend, with Iran launching dozens of drones and missiles at Israel, in the first direct attack launched by Tehran against Israel in response to the bombing of the Iranian consulate building in Damascus in early April.

Since October 8, Hezbollah and Israel have exchanged cross-border bombing on an almost daily basis.

Hezbollah announces that it is targeting Israeli sites, spy devices, and military gatherings “in support of Gaza and in support of its resistance,” and the Israeli army is bombing by air and artillery to target the party’s “infrastructure” and fighter movements near the border.

Since the beginning of the escalation, at least 364 people have been killed in Lebanon, including 240 Hezbollah members and at least 70 civilians, according to a tally prepared by Agence France-Presse based on party statements and official Lebanese sources.

On the other hand, the Israeli side counted the deaths of 10 soldiers and 8 civilians.
