Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir was accused of harming the strategy pursued by Israel towards Tehran by implicitly attributing responsibility to it for the explosions that occurred on Friday morning in Iran.
In contact with Agence France-Presse, neither the army nor the Israeli government wanted to comment on the explosions that occurred in Iran and were attributed by American officials to Israel, according to what was reported by media outlets in the United States.
Ben Gvir wrote on the “X” platform, “Dardala!” It is a Hebrew word that means “weak” or “pathetic.”
Regardless of its criticism, the far-right leader appears to support the hypothesis of an Israeli strike.
Israel threatened to respond to the attack launched by Tehran on Israel last weekend after a deadly attack attributed to Israel against its consulate in Damascus.
After attacking Israel on April 13, Iran said it exercised its “right to self-defense” after the attack that killed seven members of the Revolutionary Guard, including two officers.
Ben Gvir’s post sparked a torrent of criticism on social media and television stations.
Leftist opposition leader Yair Lapid considered, “No minister has ever caused this amount of damage to the country’s national security, its image, and its international standing.”
He said on “X”: “Ben Gvir succeeded in making Israel an object of ridicule and bringing shame to it, from Tehran to Washington.”
For his part, Shael Ben-Efraim, an academic and host of a geopolitical podcast, considered that Ben-Gvir “confirms the Israeli operation and mocks it.”
He wrote on X that in doing so he “reduces Israel’s ability to provide a believable denial and undermines its ability to deter. Shame on the minister.”
On Friday, the Iranian Tasnim News Agency re-published Bin Ghafir’s post on its account.
For her part, Tali Gotliff, a member of parliament from Likud, Benjamin Netanyahu’s right-wing party, welcomed the events and wrote on her “X” account that it was a “proud morning” for Israel.
“Israel is a strong country,” she added, sparking harsh comments.
