In cooperation with the Supreme Council for the Environment, Bahrain University of Technology organized a lecture entitled “Sound Management of Waste,” as part of its series of events specialized in environmental affairs. The lecture aimed to highlight the importance of waste management in a sustainable and environmentally friendly manner.
The lecture was presented by Engineer Mohammed Al-Mizal from the Supreme Council for the Environment, where he discussed the perspective of plastic recycling in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The main challenges related to waste management were discussed, in addition to modern practices and effective strategies to deal with this problem.
The program was attended by a diverse group of students, professors, and those interested in the topic of environmental sustainability. The lecture included interactive discussions and presentations on topics such as waste reduction, recycling, and safe disposal of hazardous waste.

The University of Bahrain Technology is unique in offering the Environmental Engineering Program, which is expected to provide the labor market with graduates capable of finding innovative solutions to the growing environmental problems. The program requirements have been carefully considered to meet the highest quality standards, reflecting the strenuous efforts made by the university to contribute to reducing the problem of environmental imbalance. Discussions also included the future of environmental issues and the role of the environmental engineer in providing solutions and related options, as well as the importance of training programs for students in environmental projects that develop the required expertise in this field.
Regarding this event, the University’s Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Haitham Issa Al-Qahtani, said: “Bahrain University of Technology is one of the most important universities specialized in providing engineering programs related to the environment and technology. We seek to cooperate with partners in this field, especially regulatory institutions, such as the Supreme Council for the Environment, and international institutions such as the United Nations and major industrial companies. Since the environmental problem also has an economic dimension, the university will seek to achieve cooperation with the competent authorities, to reach the best environmental solutions with good economic returns.
The university is keen to attract elite students and qualify them to obtain the skills required and constantly renewed in the labor market, such as those related to technology such as artificial intelligence and techniques, to qualify the student with the practical and informational ability for the requirements of the labor market, industry and environmental management in Bahrain, the countries of the region and the world in general.
Through this specialization, we look forward to graduating engineers with high efficiency in performance, to be the pioneers of tomorrow.”
