Nafais Foundation witnessed its celebration of five years since its founding with the organization of the fifteenth annual auction, which embodied the spirit of authentic Arab history by displaying a group of valuable heritage pieces.

The auction included antiques ranging from rare documents to historical photographs of the kings of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in addition to a distinctive flag dating back to past eras. Bidders found royal dishes from the Saudi table that witnessed ancient banquets, which represented a touch of the social history of the Kingdom.

Creativity was not limited to Saudi antiques, but rather expanded to include treasures from the Two Holy Mosques, including pieces of Masaa marble and decorative lamps from the Prophet’s Mosque. Part of the Kaaba’s coverings also attracted attention, which transports the visitor to the fragrance of the Ottoman era.

The jewel of the auction was a unique adornment of the outer covering of the Kaaba from the Ottoman era that was sold for 500 dinars, sparking intense competition among the participants. Likewise, an antique piece from the outer tin of the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem was sold for one thousand and one hundred dinars, all the way to the distinctive door of the pulpit of the Noble Mosque in Mecca, which dates back to the period of the rule of Sultan Abdul Hamid II, which was sold for fifty thousand dinars.

The auction was attended by a group of heritage experts and collectors, especially from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where enthusiasm and pride in the richness of heritage and the importance of acquisition as part of preserving cultural identity was evident in their participation.
