The National Teams Committee of the Bahrain Basketball Federation, headed by Mr. Mohammed Al-Ajmi, Advisor to His Highness the President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, was reassured about the preliminary preparations program for the participation of the first national basketball team in the final global qualifiers for the Paris 2024 Olympics, and what is related to the progress of the teams, in the National Teams Committee meeting held at the headquarters of Umm Al-Hassam Basketball Association, in the presence of all committee members.
The men’s team will participate for the first time in this global forum after qualifying well and deservedly. The qualifiers will be in (Puerto Rico) in North America from July 2 to July 7, and the Red Salawi group includes two other teams, Italy and Puerto Rico, the hosts. Our team will play with Italy first on July 2 and in The next day we meet Puerto Rico, and if we qualify for the semi-finals, we will play on July 6, and the final will be on July 7.
The committee reviewed the team’s preparation program, which begins in early June and includes an overseas camp in the United States of America due to the development of the sport and the popularity of basketball there and its proximity to Puerto Rico.
The committee also discussed the upcoming participations and preparations for the age group teams, and the technical and administrative bodies for the youth and junior teams were formed.
