Chairman of the Board of Directors of Gulf Hotels Group, Farouk Almoayyed, said that the group has a plan to develop the Gulf Hotel and Novotel Hotel, in addition to expanding in the Saudi market.
Almoayyed added during the General Assembly meeting of the Gulf Hotels Group, yesterday, that the group is now cooperating with a large company based in the Emirate of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, to develop an excellent resort in the Novotel Hotel, which the group recently purchased. He indicated that among the plans is expansion in the Saudi market, and there is Discussions with several parties and people in this regard.
Regarding canceling the agreement with “The K” Hotel, Almoayyed said, “They canceled the agreement with us, and God blesses them, and when they withdrew from the agreement, one of the board members had a conflict of interest, so he could not be a member of the group’s board of directors, so he graciously withdrew.”
He continued: “I would like to thank Brother Khaled Kanoo for his great efforts during his years on the Board of Directors of Gulf Hotels, and he contributed greatly to the development of the hotel.”
Al-Moayad stressed that Gulf Hotels is one of the largest groups in this sector in the Gulf, as they alone own 4 hotels, in addition to another large group.
Al-Moayyed said: “Tourism in Bahrain needs to be developed, by bringing foreign tourists from various countries of the world, whether Europe or Southeast Asia, who love real tourism,” pointing out the need not to rely on visitors to Bahrain from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries only.
He added: “There must be agreements with foreign offices that attract tourists to the Kingdom of Bahrain, as countries in the region and the world do, but so far we have not seen the results. All of them came from the Gulf, and a few come from outside the region.” He pointed out that the influx of some Indian communities Organizing weddings in the Kingdom of Bahrain is a good thing and must be developed.
