The head of the Galali Fishermen’s Association, Muhammad Al-Dakhil, stressed to Al-Bilad the importance of considering the priorities that concern Bahraini fishermen during this critical stage, especially given that marine and fish resources are considered at the forefront of Bahraini food security priorities.
Al-Dakhil explained that the Bahraini fisherman needs continuous support, whether in terms of providing marine equipment, or fuel support for the owners of “cruisers” similar to the owners of boats, pointing out that the owners of “cruisers” feed the local market with marine wealth, more than their counterparts who own boats, and this is something that the people of the boats know. The sea is good.
He continued, “The Bahraini fisherman needs someone to preserve his profession, by listening to his concerns and problems, adding that there is no dispute about the presence of Asian sailors at sea, provided that the license holder is the one who leads the matter, drives the “cruiser” and supervises the fishing process from A to Z. “.
He added, “Leaving it to Asian fishermen to wreak havoc in the sea is unacceptable, and affects the country’s national and strategic wealth, and harms Bahraini fishermen, their source of livelihood, as well as food security in general. This is something that has been in place for more than 10 years, with the continued demand for the importance of paying attention to the fishing sector.” , which is suffering from damage and decline, and this is reflected today in the prices of fish, which have become (a young man of fire).”
He said, “Asian sailors are trying to collect money and send it as much as possible to their country, without the slightest interest in the future of the country’s marine wealth, its sustainability, or its continuation. This is in clear contradiction to what the Bahraini fisherman does, who cares – without a doubt – about the smallest details, and strives to avoid causing harm.” By sea in any way.”
Al-Dakhil explained that “the people of Al-Bwanish staying at sea for several days is due to the scarcity of fish, their scarcity, and their scarcity in places where they were abundant in the past, and just as they now remain three and four days at sea, they – if the situation continues as is happening – will remain in the future for longer periods.” “It may take up to 10 days.” He added, “The Bahraini fisherman needs the relevant departments for shelters and houses that are thrown into the sea, in order to incubate and raise fish. This is a good initiative that the government has begun to move forward with, and huge budgets have been allocated to it.” Al-Dakhil stressed, “We are the only association demanding the application of the Bahraini Nokhatha Law. We are keen to preserve rights in this matter, out of the conviction that Bahraini seafarers are the most keen in the profession, in preserving its survival and continuing it in the correct manner.” He pointed out in the conclusion of his speech to the growing phenomenon of thefts. “Qaraqir” and fishermen’s equipment, which deprives some fishermen of sleep, especially those who have no profession other than fishing.”
