A woman in her thirties set fire to a blanket in her room at her father’s house, which led to thick smoke rising into the room, prompting her father to file a report against her.
The details of the incident indicate, according to the testimony of the accused’s father, that he noticed a change in the behavior of his accused daughter (39 years old) several days before the incident, as she was constantly screaming and scattering the contents of the house, and so he tried to talk to her about that, but to no avail.
The incident occurred in the morning, and that was when the accused’s sister told her father about the presence of smoke rising from the accused’s room, so he immediately went to the room and saw smoke emanating from the bathroom and the presence of blankets burning with fire, so he extinguished them with water and the room was filled with thick smoke.
The accused’s father added in his testimony that it was not the first time that his accused daughter had started a fire. It was also proven in the civil defense report that the fire was started by an active agent and resulted in 80% damage to the blanket and 5% damage to the room as a result of the smoke.
Accordingly, the Public Prosecution charged the accused with intentionally starting a fire in the victim’s father’s house, which would have endangered people’s lives and money. For its part, the High Criminal Court set a hearing for next May 5 to consider the case.
