The Ministry of Works confirmed that it has conducted more than 91,000 laboratory tests of wastewater and treated water received in wastewater treatment plants and treated water resulting from various commercial and industrial activities and sewage pumping stations in the Ministry’s laboratories, during the year 2023.
The Ministry stated that it is working to improve the laboratory environment in accordance with the latest specifications that are compatible with the ISO requirements for chemical and microbiological analysis laboratories, in order to ensure achieving the highest standards of quality and efficiency for produced water, as the laboratory building was built and equipped with the latest analytical equipment and devices, in order to ensure achieving the highest levels of quality control and coverage. All tests required according to Law No. (33) of 2006 regarding sanitation and surface water drainage.
The Ministry of Works explained that all sewage treatment plants in the Kingdom of Bahrain are subject to the regulatory program supervised by the Ministry’s laboratories to ensure the highest levels of work performance, and to ensure the integration, compatibility and harmony of existing systems, in a way that maintains the sustainability of sanitation services provided to citizens and residents in the Kingdom.
The Ministry said that the Ministry’s treated water quality control group obtained the renewal of the international accreditation certificate, ISO (17025:2017), from the Gulf Accreditation Center (GAC) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as part of the Ministry’s efforts to ensure the highest levels of quality and accuracy with regard to conducting wastewater and treated wastewater examinations. .
The Ministry of Public Works also holds the latest version of the ISO certificate for laboratories (ISO/IEC 17025:2017), by implementing all accreditation requirements for physical, chemical and microbiological examinations, defining the quality policy and objectives, and updating the quality system manual in line with the new requirements of the updated version of the specifications. standard.
It is worth noting that laboratory examination is carried out for all entrances to sewage plants, dual- and triple-treated water, sewage lifting and pumping stations, treated water tanks, some stages of water treatment and factory waste.
