Ait Taleb stresses the importance of “general statistics”

Khaled Ait Taleb, Minister of Health and Social Protection, confirmed that the message addressed by King Mohammed VI to the Head of Government regarding the Seventh General Population and Housing Census 2024 “sets the parameters of this major process, the results of which will form the basis for decision-makers and actors during the formulation of public policies in all sectors.” .

Ait Taleb explained, in a statement to the Maghreb Arab Press Agency, that “this royal message is distinguished by its careful and scientific treatment of new topics necessary for various public policies and strategies, especially the royal workshops for the dissemination of social protection.” “This reflects the great interest that His Majesty the King has always paid to improving the living conditions of citizens.”

The Minister of Health and Social Protection stated that this important royal workshop, which aims to advance social and spatial justice, constitutes “a real social revolution.” Given its effects on a wide segment of Moroccan society.”

The same government official added that the general population and housing census will enable decision-makers to collect and update socio-economic data for families, while enabling them to have a forward-looking vision of needs in the areas of health and social protection. This statistics would also facilitate the adaptation of programs to the current and future reality in order to better respond to citizens’ expectations.

The Minister indicated that the upcoming census will provide an updated data base that allows social protection and health programs to be adapted to needs, adding that the Ministry will use the results of this process to generalize social protection workshops and provide comprehensive health coverage and adequate family compensation.

Ait Taleb continued that the population census, which is a mechanism for effective planning and provision of health programs and services, allows the Ministry to determine the national health map, develop targeting and intervention policies, and monitor the spread of infectious and non-communicable diseases. This will help develop effective plans to combat and prevent these diseases.
