Agriculture sustains Paraguay: agricultural engineers celebrate their day with figures that mark national development

In the month that the Day of the Agricultural Engineer of Paraguay is celebrated (September 20), the Association of Agricultural Engineers of Paraguay (AIAP) highlighted the crucial role of these professionals in the economic and social development of the country, with figures that show the magnitude of the contribution of the agricultural sector.

According to sectoral data, agriculture:

* It cultivates more than 3.5 million hectares of soybeans and more than 1 million hectares of corn and wheat.
* Represents close to 40% of national exports.
* Places Paraguay as the 3rd largest world exporter of soybeans and 1st world exporter of organic sugar.
* It exports more than 422 thousand tons of beef, which positions the country as the ninth largest exporter in the world.
* It contributes approximately 25% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and generates close to 30% of national employment.

The president of the AIAP, Ing. Agr. VĂ­ctor Miranda stressed that the work of agronomists is essential to sustain this leadership: “Our knowledge drives productivity, opens paths to new technologies and commits us to the care of our GuaranĂ­ land. We are silent protagonists of a work that not only feeds Paraguay, but also positions the country in the main international markets.”
In this framework, the AIAP reaffirmed its commitment to continue strengthening the profession, working together with public and private institutions to promote sustainable development from the field, with innovation, responsibility and vision of the future.
