A memorandum of understanding was signed in New York on April 5 between Bangladesh Film Archive and Getty Images, a famous visual media company in the United States, to collect and preserve footage related to the Liberation War and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

On behalf of the Bangladesh Film Archive, the director of the project ‘Collecting and preserving audio visual documents of the Liberation War from domestic and foreign sources and increasing the capacity of the Bangladesh Film Archive’. Md. Mofakharul Iqbal and the company’s Asia Pacific TV and Sales Director Aran Barcheno signed the MoU on behalf of Getty Images. At that time, the officials of the Bangladesh Embassy in Washington DC and the Bangladesh Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York were present.

During the great war of liberation, especially in the early hours of March 26, the news was broadcasted in various media of the world immediately after the declaration of independence by the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Through this MoU, Getty Images will provide assistance to Bangladesh Film Archive in collecting and preserving these invaluable documents. As a result, the Bangladesh Film Archive will gain the ability to present the true history of the liberation war of 1971 and the struggle and sacrifice of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to future generations.
On the same day, the senior secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Humayun Kabir Khondkar, visited the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations in New York.
