After the Passover holiday: the teachers’ organization announced the worsening of the sanctions

The high school teachers’ organization announced today (Wednesday) the worsening of the sanctions, “in light of the Ministry of Finance’s insistence not to conduct substantive negotiations for the signing of a collective agreement.” This is within the framework of the struggle to obtain a new wage agreement, after two years from the expiration of the previous wage agreement.

The organization clarified that the Remembrance Day and Holocaust Day ceremonies will take place as usual, and will not be included in the sanctions.

The organization’s announcement states that “starting with the end of the Passover holiday, no activities will be carried out outside the school walls even during school hours; there will be no graduation ceremonies and parties.” These sanctions are added to the sanctions already in place today, which will continue – not giving grades to students and ending the work day at 3:30 p.m.

The chairman of the teachers’ organization Ran Erez: “The thuggish conduct of the Ministry of Finance against the public of female teachers and teachers who bear both the burden of the war and the preparation for learning under emergency conditions is a red line. If anyone in the Ministry of Finance thinks that by bending their arms they will break us, they are making a bitter mistake.”

The parents’ leadership submitted a petition to the High Court of Justice yesterday, demanding that the state enter into intensive negotiations to sign a salary agreement with the teachers’ organization. At the same time, the Ministry of Education expressed opposition to the cut in teachers’ salaries, which the salary commissioner ordered last month as a response to the teachers’ organization’s sanctions.

Last September, agreements were reached with the Ministry of Finance, which were supposed to lead to a wage agreement in December, but such an agreement was not signed.
