After the attack that Shamir Fernández, candidate for mayor of Torreón for the coalition of Morena and PT, received from a woman on a tour through Valle Verde, a complaint for slander, discrimination and violent acts was filed with the Electoral Institute of Coahuila ( IEC) against the lady and the PRI.
“It is not for me, any candidate from any party has the right to campaign and inform the citizens of his proposal, without a colleague yelling at him or saying something to him,” he expressed, “the action that the lady did is not the most adequate, pity for her because I see that they are using her, I call on my colleagues not to allow themselves to be used.
He assured that the polls favor him and considered that the presidential debate will also benefit them, so he did not rule out that this type of actions could increase in the coming days.
Arturo Braña, lawyer, mentioned that the complaint also goes against the PRI, due to the electoral figure of culpa in vigilando, which holds the party responsible for the conduct of its members, since it has the obligation to train people and avoid political violence. . The IEC was also asked to know if the PRI carried out the workshop to eradicate political violence against women, due to the conviction of the attack on Pily de Aguinaga in the previous process.
Fernández was accompanied by Ricardo Mejía Berdeja, who reported that he was registered for the federal representation of proportional representation by the PT. Regarding the attacks on Shamir, Mejía accused that there is a dirty war, as he assured that “the PRI is very hurt by Fernández’s leadership”, hence it has been a recurring practice to send people to insult and try to provoke negative reactions. In this sense, he called on the state government to “control their ‘dogs’, to let Shamir campaign,” which he specified as “their raccoon electoral operators who are dedicated to waging dirty war.”
Mejía said that, in addition to the incident in Valle Verde, there are the billboards that had been placed against the candidate. Braña reiterated that a call has been made to the PRI to carry out high-profile campaigns.
On the other hand, Fernández said that next Sunday, June 2, the defense of each of the votes that this coalition receives will be reinforced, since on this occasion the representation of the parties in the polls will be 100 percent covered, when the Last year it was close to 80%.
