African trio win golden boot in English League

Three African players, the Egyptian Mohamed Salah, the Senegalese Sadio Mané (both from Liverpool) and the Gabonese Perre-Emerick Aubameyang (Arsenal), became the top scorers in the English Football League, with 22 goals each, and will receive the boot of gold.

According to Agência Angola Press, this is the third time since the creation of the English Premier League (1992/93) that the top scorer trophy has been shared between three athletes, after 1997/98 (Chris Sutton, Dion Dublin and Michael Owen) and 1998/99 (Michael Owen, Dwight Yorke and Jimmy Hasselbaink).

It should be noted that since 2010/11, a season in which Carlos Tévez and Berbatov won the title of top scorers with 20 goals each, that the golden boot has not been won with such a low goalscoring record.

Of the three players, two will be at CAN taking place from June 21st to July 12th in Egypt, namely Mohamed Salah (Egypt) and Sadio Mané (Senegal), an event in which Angola is also qualified.
