Algeria and Burkina Faso drew 2-2 in the Africa Cup of Nations. In Algeria, Mohamed Amoura entered the field at the start of the second half and did so with verve. STVV player Aboubakary Koita also showed a beautiful goal.
Amoura came on to replace Sofiane Feghouli after 45 minutes. At that moment, Algeria was trailing 0-1, after a goal by Mohamed Konaté in injury time of the first half. Amoura immediately made an excellent impression and after six minutes of the second half the score was 1-1 thanks to a goal from Baghdad Bounedjah. Bounedjah was also a godsend when he scored the equalizer in injury time after Bertrand Traoré had given Burkina Faso the lead twenty minutes before the whistle.
Amoura failed to score for Algeria, but clearly impressed. Djamel Belmadi, Algeria coach, said he was satisfied with Amoura’s inclusion. And also on X (the former Twitter) compliments poured in for the Union striker. We wouldn’t be surprised if Amoura starts in the starting lineup in the next game.

In the other group D match, Angola won 2-3 against Mauritania. In Mauritania, Aboubakary Koita was another Jupiler Pro League player who showed his best side. Koita made it 2-3 in the 58th minute with a strong blast, but he and his compatriots couldn’t go beyond the equalizer.
