AFINIA proposes differential operation to improve energy service in Cesar

During a meeting sustained with mayors of Cesar, southern Bolívar and Magdalena, the general manager of Afinia, Ricardo José Arango Restrepo, presented the proposal of a differentiated operation for these territories, with the aim of responding to the particularities of each region and improving the quality of the energy service.

In the case of the Department of Cesar, Arango explained that a pilot model would be implemented that would allow users to access lower rates in the medium and long term, according to the current state of the electrical infrastructure. In this modality, future tariff increases would not be contemplated as long as this scheme is maintained.

Model with territorial approach

The proposal includes an independent and differential scheme that would accelerate the implementation of solutions adapted to the local context. Among the strategies raised are: renewable energy projects, energy efficiency programs, development of communities and energy municipalities, normalization of subnormal users, together with energy communities and inclusion of local operators and regional labor.

The manager stressed that this approach would allow more effectively to attend the structural challenges facing the department, such as high energy losses and low collection level, which currently reaches only 60 %.

Arango Restrepo called on local leaders to promote among their practical communities of efficient consumption, and emphasized that certain popular beliefs prevent the acceptance of new measures that seek to guarantee the sustainability of the energy system.

“Our goal is to move towards an intelligent operation, with more effective collection strategies, reduction of losses and, above all, with a look towards collective well -being,” said the affinia manager.
