Accident details
The plane, a French-made ATR-72-500, was on a flight between Cascavel and São Paulo. About 80 kilometres from Guarulhos airport, it crashed in the backyards of a residential complex in Vinhedo. Fortunately, it did not hit any buildings and did not cause any casualties on the ground.
Aeronautical authorities confirmed that both the plane and the pilots complied with all the necessary licenses and conditions to fly. The crew did not report any emergencies or problems before the impact. The causes of the accident are still under investigation, but aviation experts suggest that the accumulation of ice on the wings could have been a key factor in the tragedy.
