At first glance, it didn’t look so dramatic, just a classic carom in a snowboard cross crowd. During the quarter-final ride at the mountain in Sierra Nevada, leader Eva’s board vibrated, she lost her balance, hit the snow, and then rivals Jacobellis and Brockhoff rolled over her. Both were in pain, the Australian even had to be taken away by rescuers. “I’m sorry, I hope the girls will be fine. I’m healthy, I just have a headache,” the Czech woman said.

Only later did she find out that it was also about her health! When she fell, she hit her head on the ground so hard that the blue protection of her skull cracked! “We still have the helmets. The head is good, the helmet will be new,” she additionally boasted to fans. No, this wasn’t fun…
