Light rains from Saturday (May 7), but it rained in Gazipur at noon. About an hour of rain, water began to accumulate in the lower areas of the city. Due to lack of drains, the water in Chandana, Bhogra area is frozen on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway. The highway goes down. Due to the water, the traffic was created at normal speed. Until the evening, there was intense traffic from Voghara bus stand to Chandana Chowrasta and Vogara Chowrasta to Nagor. In the city’s board market, Tongir Hossain Market area also caused severe traffic congestion.

Locals complained that the waterlogging was created due to lack of adequate drain, the wrong design of the BRT project and the filling of the canal.

Abdul Barak Mia, a businessman, said the BRTA project’s incorrect design and work were being paid for the non -completion of the highway. The drain that has been constructed under the highway in the design is very narrow than needed. The water does not flow properly. Millions of houses and houses in Chandana and Voghara areas come into the drainage. Apart from this, the creation of houses, factories and businesses in the unplanned is a little rain. Gazipur transport driver Ibrahim Mia said that the BRT project was not completed as the work was not completed. Due to the water frozen in these places, the vehicles cannot operate at normal speed. Ashraf Hossain, a resident and factory worker in Vogra area, said that if the rain was high, the water entered the house. The road also goes down. Many times you have to travel to the wet factory. The city corporation should take steps to reduce waterlogging quickly.

Gazipur City Corporation chief executive officer Abdul Latif said the water in the Vogra area flows through Mogarkhal. Due to the occupation, it is taking time to rain water. It is creating waterlogging. Gazipur City Corporation has started work to rescue and excavate Mogarkhal from May 27. Gazipur City Corporation Administrator and Dhaka Divisional Commissioner Sharaf Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury supervised the work on Friday. When the work is done, the waterlogging will decrease.
