Barbora Jánová, known primarily from popular series, accepted an invitation to the podcast Girls on Wine. A burst of energy, laughter and good humor flowed into the studio with her, and it was evident throughout the shoot, even though she does not shy away from talking about life’s more difficult moments.
Memories of Survivor are bittersweet
She also experienced difficult moments in the Survivor competition, in which she literally fought two years ago. This series was plagued by the covid epidemic, which did not escape Bara itself. And as she says, she remembers the participation bittersweetly.
“I was on the island for six days, then I was in quarantine for six days. But that was harder for me than the whole Survivor, because you are alone in a room. You don’t have a TV, a book, a phone, you don’t have anything there, so excuse me and you ‘stare’ at the wall. Really psycho. The only thing there was a clock, which is really animal cruelty because it doesn’t move. You think it’s four o’clock, but it’s half an hour. So this was harder on the psyche than Survivor itself.” explained the actress.
Hunger in the main role
She let it be heard that hunger is what initially surprises the participant the most. “It starts right away with a big competition for utensils and fire, the competition lasts four to five hours, which will of course make you hungry, and at fifty degrees too,” said Barbora Jánová. It is naturally difficult to set your mind in such a way that no food is really waiting for you.
Teeth whiter than at home and a ban on prescription glasses
The actress also explained how hygiene is on the island. Coconut fiber worked great as an interdental brush, but they also used fire ash. “Very clean and paradoxically we had whiter teeth there than here.” She then added that menstrual supplies for women are a matter of course, as are sun creams, but also lens solutions for those with diopters. “But glasses were forbidden because they could be used to start a fire,” explained Bára.
Deep depression after participating in the competition
The actress does not hide the fact that she experienced depression and burnout syndrome. However, after the competition, the psychological difficulties worsened even more. “After Survivor, I didn’t know if I would be able to play again, there were days when I couldn’t even get out of bed. I needed medication and therapy, I’m not ashamed to talk about it.” says Bára about anxieties.
New partner
She now has a new boyfriend in her veins, but she doesn’t want to talk about him publicly yet, because the relationship has only lasted a few months:
“She’s like my Mrs. Columbo,” Bara laughs. “PI’ll just tell you that he’s from the field and he’s a little shy. We really want it to last. At 35, I already see priorities, everything in a relationship is faster than it was at 20. And the biological clock beats like Big Ben.” adds the actress.
