Actor William Hurt died at the age of 71, his family announced in a brief statement reported by the American media.
Winner of an Oscar for “Kiss of the Spider Woman” (1985), he starred in films such as “Body Heat” (1981) and “Children of a Lesser God” (“Children of a minor god”, 1986).
Other of his notable film participations were in “AI (Artificial Intelligence)” (“AI Artificial Intelligence”, 2001), “The Village” (“The Village”, 2004), “The Good Shepherd”, 2006).
He also played Thaddeus Ross in the Marvel universe.
“It is with great sadness that the Hurt family mourns the death of William Hurt, beloved father and Oscar winner, on March 13, 2022, one week before his 72nd birthday,” family members indicated.
The actor died among his family peacefully and of natural causes.
Hurt also starred in stage productions such as “Henry V,” “Fifth of July,” “Richard II” and “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and received a Tony Award nomination in 1985 for “Hurlyburly.”
