Activists played a soccer match last Sunday using a replica of the head of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a ball in front of the United Nations headquarters in New York (USA).
The action, which took place just before the 80th session of the General Assembly, which will take place from September 23 to 29, aimed to “draw the attention of the international community to the genocide that is currently being perpetrated in Gaza,” reads a post on social networks by Eugenio Merino, the Spanish artist in charge of making the replica of the head of the Israeli prime minister.
“Amnesty International data allows us to conclude that Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023,” the text reads.
In the action, carried out together with the American collective INDECLINE, “activists and citizens, both Jews and Palestinians” participated.
It is not the first time that this type of match has been organized. On previous occasions, activists used the heads of US President Donald Trump, former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, and Spanish dictator Francisco Franco as balls. With RT
