Letjen is an abbreviation of Lieutenant General, a rank that falls into the category of High Officers. This rank is also known as a 3-star general, one level above Major General (2 stars) and one level below TNI General (4 stars).
Currently there are dozens of Pati who hold the rank of active TNI Lieutenant General. Some of them hold the Kopassus and Para Major Command brevets. The Kopassus Command Brevet is a mark of honor given to soldiers who have completed Commando education at Kopassus TNI AD, while the Para Utama Brevet is a mark of honor given to soldiers who have completed advanced parachuting education at the TNI AD. So who are the TNI Lieutenant Generals who hold these two brevets?
Active TNI Lieutenant General Holding Brevet of Kopassus Command and Principal Officers:
1. Lieutenant General TNI I Nyoman Cantiasa, SE, MTr (Han)

I Nyoman Cantiasa is one of the active TNI Lieutenant Generals holding the Kopassus and Para Utama Command brevets. The recipient of the Adhi Makayasa as the best graduate of Akpol 1990 is now serving as Deputy Chief of the State Intelligence Agency (Waka BIN).
The soldier born in Buleleng, Bali, June 26, 1967 began his military career at Kostrad. He once served as Danton Yonif Linud 328 Dirgahayu, Danki Yonif Linud 328 Dirgahayu. After that, I Nyoman was transferred to Kopassus as Wadansubtim Den 81 Gultor, Dan Unit Den 81 Gultor, Dansubtim 2 Den 81 Gultor, Dantim Den 81 Gultor, and Dantim Intel Group 3 Sandhi Yudha.
I Nyoman is still continuing his Kopassus career as Danseko Pusdikpassus, Dansepara Pusdiklat, Pabandya Ops Makopassus Danyon 811/Sat-81, Dandenma Kopassus, and Waasintel Danjen Kopassus. In 2010, I Nyoman was appointed as Wadansat-81/Kopassus and in the same year became Dansat 81/Kopassus.
In 2012, Nyoman was transferred to become Danpusdikpassus, then Pamen Expert in Special Tactics Gultor Danjen Kopassus (2013), Pamen Denma Mabesad (Dik Sesko TNI), Danmentar Akmil (2015), and Danrem 163/Wirasatya (2015). Nyoman broke into stardom after being appointed Danrem 173/Praja Vira Braja in 2017, then Kasdam XVII/Cenderawasih.
I Nyoman Cantiasa’s career continued to climb. His rank rose to 2 stars after being transferred to become Pa Sahli Level III for National Politics and Security of the TNI Commander (2018), Danjen Kopassus (2019), and Pangdam XVIII/Kasuari (2020). Nyoman earned 3 stars after being appointed as Pangkogabwilhan III (2022), Koorsahli KSAD (2023), and Deputy Head of BIN (2023).
I Nyoman also collects many brevets including the Kopassus Command Qualification, Free Fall, Para Utama, Basic Parachutist Badge (US Army), Military Parachute Badge (French Army), and the Counter-Terrorism Qualification Brevet (Gultor).
2. Lieutenant General TNI Bambang Ismawan, SE, MM

Next is Bambang Ismawan, Pati who holds the Kopassus and Para Major Command brevet. The 1988 Military Academy graduate now serves as Chief of the TNI General Staff (Kasum).
After graduating from Akmil, Bambang Ismawan also received other military education, such as Sesarcabif, Command, Dik PARA, Dik PARA Utama, Diklapa I, Diklapa II, Seskoad, Sesko TNI, and Lemhannas.
Bambang Ismawan’s high-ranking military career began as Commander of Korem 012/Teuku Umar with the rank of colonel in 2016-2017. Then when he became Brigadier General, Bambang began serving in a very important and central position such as Chief of Staff of the Brawijaya Regional Military Command (2018-2020).
Not long after, in 2020 his career became even more brilliant. He changed ranks to Major General and got important positions such as Deputy Commander of Pusterad (2020-2021), Assistant Intelligence KSAD (2021) and Commander of Kodam XVI/Pattimura (2021).
Since his position as Lieutenant General, Bambang has also been given a new position as Commander of the TNI Education and Training Command (2021-2023) and most recently served as Chief of General Staff of the TNI in 2023. It is known that 3-Star General Bambang Ismawan now has three children named Jezia Armynta, Aqila Victorinet Viyata Albertina and Dista Alam Ramadhani Nastiti from his wife named Shintawati.
Bambang Ismawan’s brevet collection is quite large. These include the Kopassus Command Qualification Brevet, Para Utama, Master Parachutist Badge (Singapore Army), Master Parachutist Badge (US Army), Basic Parachutist Badge (Royal Thai Army), and Indonesian Navy Scuba Brevet.
3. TNI Lieutenant General Richard Taruli Horja Tampubolon, SH, MM

Then there is the name Richard Taruli Horja Tampubolon, an active TNI Lieutenant General who holds the Kopassus and Para Utama Command brevet. The 1992 Akmil graduate now serves as Commander of the Joint Defense Region Command (Pangkogabwilhan) III.
The soldier born on May 24, 1969 spent part of his service in the Red Beret Corps unit. It is recorded that he was once Pabandya Lid Sintel Kopassus, Danyon 11/Group 1/Kopassus, Wadan Group 2/Kopassus, Asintel Danjen Kopassus (2014), Commander of Group 2/Kopassus (2014-2015), to Commander of Group 3/Kopassus (2015). He also served as Danrindam VI/Mulawarman (2016) and Danrem 023/Kawal Samudera (2016-2017).
Richard returned to Kopassus in 2017. At that time, he was appointed as Wadanjen Kopassus and held the rank of 1-star general or Brigadier General TNI. After that, Richard changed his duties to become Kasdam VI/Mulawarman (2018-2019). His career became even more brilliant when he was appointed to fill the position of Kaskogabwilhan I (2019-2020) and was promoted to 2-star general or Major General TNI. In the 2020-2021 period, Richard was assigned as Dankoopssus TNI. Some time later, he switched to become Pangdam XVI/Pattimura replacing Bambang Ismawan (2021-2022).
Richard’s career skyrocketed when he was promoted to Inspector General of the Indonesian Army (Irjenad). Serving for the 2022-2023 period, he replaced Lieutenant General Rudianto. In line with his new duties, his rank also rose one level to 3 stars or Lieutenant General TNI. After that, Richard was appointed as Pangkogabwilhan III in July 2023. The change in position was based on the Decree of the TNI Commander Number Kep/779/VII/2023 dated July 17, 2023 concerning dismissal from and appointment to positions within the TNI. Richard replaced Lieutenant General TNI Agus Suhardi.
Richard Tampubolon also has many brevets. These include Kopassus Command Qualification Brevet, Free Fall, Para Utama, Master Parachutist Badge (US Army), Master Parachutist Badge (Singapore Army), Parachutist Badge (Malaysian Armed Forces), Basic Parachutist Badge (Royal Thai Army), Jungle Battle, Qualification Air Guide, and TNI Koopssus Brevet.
4. Lieutenant General TNI Rudianto, SM, CSFA

Rudianto is also an active TNI Lieutenant General who holds the Kopassus and Para Utama Command Brevet. The 1989 Military Academy graduate now serves as Commander General (Danjen) of the TNI Academy.
The soldier who was born in Kudus, Central Java, March 7 1967, is full of experience. He has undertaken various assignments, both in military units and in organizations outside the TNI. At first Rudianto was assigned as the first officer at the Indonesian Army’s Infantry Weapons Center (Pussenif) after leaving Tidar Valley. After that he was heavily involved in the Red Beret Corps, starting from unit commander, team commander, to battalion commander.
