Plants have been stolen from planters on the Herengracht for weeks. The residents are now done. “It really takes everything in.”
CCTV footage from last night shows the thief unceremoniously taking the plants from the container and placing them in the bag. At eight in the evening he returned and picked another plant.
Residents say they have been suffering from the plant thief for weeks. One of the residents then decided to install a camera, the images of which he then sent to the AT5.
“It takes everything: ducks, absolutely everything that comes out,” the tenant says as he stands next to an emptied planter. If he wants a plant, he can get one from me. But don’t steal from others, I think it’s exaggerated.
The man is not the only one involved in the theft. Even a woman who works further down the Herengracht regularly sees plants disappearing. The reason? “That’s the big question,” she said. “It might even be that someone enjoys it.”
