It was half past five in the afternoon. The sun has fallen in the western sky. Low-income people are taking the road home for Iftar after fasting all day. The Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Lands) is standing on the side of the road and handing Iftar to them.

According to upazila administration sources, Naria upazila administration plans to distribute Iftar among low-income people on the occasion of Independence Day. According to the plan, Iftar distribution started at various important places of the upazila city from Tuesday afternoon. Meanwhile, Aceland said. Parvez himself handed over khichuri, eggs and water bottles to pedestrians, day laborers, rickshaw pullers and more than two hundred low-income people.
Auto rickshaw driver Nooruddin Sheikh said after having Iftar, ‘Our income decreases a little during Ramadan. You have to spend money from the market to buy iftar. On the way home today, Aceland handed over iftar to me. Today the pocket money was saved.’
Jamal Bepari, another rickshaw driver, said, ‘No one has ever handed Iftar to us on the road before. Egg-Kichuri was in the Iftar packet. If they didn’t provide iftar, we might have to buy it from outside. I am very happy to get free iftar.’
Aceland Md. Parvez said that iftar has been distributed to more than two hundred low-income people on the instructions of UNO. The event was actually for low-income people including day laborers, rickshaw pullers.
In this regard, Naria Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Shankar Chandra Baidya said, on the occasion of Independence Day, iftar was distributed among the low-income people. Our activities will continue in the future.
