Abu Salim succeeded in achieving his first historic victory in the group stage at the expense of his guest, Sagrada Esperanza of Angola, with a score of 1-0 at the stadium of the Algerian city of Annaba.
The winning goal was scored by player Abdel Moumen Al-Ayan in the 89th minute.
With this victory, Abu Salim rose to second place and kept its chances of reaching the round of 16 intact, after losing in the first round to Zamalek of Egypt, which led by 6 points, while Sagrada’s score froze at 3 points, which it achieved in the first round by defeating Swar of Guinea.
For its part, Al Hilal team failed to maintain its lead by one goal in the match that brought it together at the Benina Martyrs Stadium against the Egyptian club Future, as the latter was able to turn the result in its favor with a score of 2-1.
Al Hilal took the lead with an early goal in the third minute by midfielder Jaafar Idris, taking advantage of a defensive lapse by the visitors. The first half ended in favor of Al Hilal.
In the second half, substitute Marwan Mohsen was able to score an equalizer for Future in the 65th minute, with a left-footed shot to the left of Al Hilal’s goalkeeper.
Future’s player, Ali Al-Fail, received a red card in the 70th minute, but that did not prevent Future from scoring his second goal and winning the match in the 90th minute through substitute Kagalli Drami.
With this result, Future is in second place in the first group standings with 6 points, equally with Algeria’s USM Al-Asimah, while Al Hilal stopped at zero points, equally with South Africa’s SuperSport United.
