A warning that created some discomfort

The warning from Emmo/nat last Saturday cast a chill in the Malagasy political microcosm. It causes a certain unease a few days after these elections which took place in an overall peaceful atmosphere. But this apparent calm does not seem to hide tensions which ended up expressing themselves in a violent manner. Investigations are underway after the fires at the CENI offices in two localities, a call for calm was launched and it was recalled that only the HCC is authorized to publish the official results of this election.

A warning that created some discomfort

These legislative elections took place in an overall peaceful climate and the voters who went to the polling stations wanted to clearly express their choice. They hope that it will be respected and that there will be no embezzlement that distorts the results that will come out of the polls. For the moment, there is nothing to show that legal procedures were not respected, but doubts are being expressed on social networks and are starting to disturb public opinion. Voices are being raised and calling for confrontations of the minutes established in the polling stations. However, this type of practice is not currently planned. The SNRVs continue to collect the results sent to them. But for the moment, it is the candidates themselves who count the votes communicated on the minutes of their delegates. In this context, rumors are rife. Voters are sensitive to the “information” conveyed, but as a whole, they know how to keep their reason. In large urban centers, citizens want to believe that fraud, if it exists, will be denounced and the requests filed will be judged fairly. For the moment, the Malagasy people are calmly waiting for the electoral operations to take place. They have taken note of the warning from the police, but they intend to respect legality.
