A teenager died due to lightning while fishing in Chandpur –

A teenager named Alif (13), a school student, died due to lightning in Matlab North of Chandpur.

The incident took place on Saturday (May 31) afternoon when he went fishing in Hashimpur village of Ekhlachpur union of the upazila.

The deceased Alif Hashimpur is the son of Kabir Pradhan and Ayesha Begum, a resident of the main house. He is a seventh standard student at Dashani Mohanpur High School.

Locals said that at the time of the incident, Alif went to cast a net for fishing in a land about 200 yards north of the house. At that time, when there was lightning with storm and rain, he fainted there. Later, his grandmother Arofa Begum and neighbor Anisa Begum saw him lying on the ground in muddy water and rushed forward.

They went and saw that Alif was lying down. Hearing the screams, the people around rushed to rescue him and took him home. Relatives confirmed that he died by then.

In this regard, Ekhlaspur Union Parishad Chairman Mofizul Islam Munna Dhali said, the incident is very shocking. We are with the family. Everyone should be aware of lightning protection. Avoid going to open places during storms.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Matlab North Police Station. Rabiul Haque said, we visited the spot and initially it was confirmed as death due to lightning.
