A symposium discusses the desert and the UN resolution

Al-Ghali Al-Ghilani, President of the International Diplomatic Center and Research Professor at Cadi Ayyad University in Marrakesh, the United Nations University for Peace and the African Center for Strategic Intelligence, said that Security Council Resolution No. 2797 came to consolidate what he described as “red-line diplomacy” established by King Mohammed VI in managing the Moroccan Sahara file, stressing that the Moroccan autonomy initiative has become the only serious and realistic framework for ending the artificial conflict.

This came during a national symposium hosted by the city of Souk Saturday, Awlad Al-Nama, devoted to analyzing the contexts of UN Resolution 2797 and reviewing its diplomatic and strategic implications, with the participation of an elite group of university professors and experts in law and international relations. Al-Ghali Al-Ghilani explained that Resolution 2797 gave new impetus to the gains achieved by Moroccan diplomacy, whether in terms of the expansion of the circle of countries supporting the autonomy initiative, or through the growing recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over its southern provinces by influential international powers. He also stressed that the developmental dynamism witnessed by the southern regions, especially in light of the development model launched by the King in 2015, has today become an essential factor in strengthening the field legitimacy of the Moroccan proposal.

For his part, Dr. Mohamed El-Ghali, Dean of the Faculty of Legal, Economic and Social Sciences in Kelaa de Sraghna, pointed out that Resolution 2797 came at a moment when the region is witnessing profound strategic transformations, highlighting that the Moroccan approach is no longer limited to the traditional political dimension, but rather extends to strengthening common collective security in North Africa, the Sahel region and the African continent, which consolidates Morocco’s position as a pivotal regional and strategic actor.
