The organization of the UN interfaith pavilion and the summit of religious leaders at the COP29 conference, which will be held in Azerbaijan this year, has been entrusted to the Council of Muslim Elders.
Publika.az reports that this was announced at the next meeting of the Council held in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates.
The event was attended by the Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Board (CMB), member of the Council of Muslim Elders, Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade.
It was reported from the CMB that the participants of the event took part in the interfaith pavilion organized for the first time at the 28th Framework Conference on Climate Change (COP28) held in Abu Dhabi last year, which acted as the main organizer with the relevant decision of the UN, as well as the Vatican within the said conference. It was emphasized that at the next COP29 conference to be held in Azerbaijan this year, the UN entrusted the Council of Muslim Elders with holding the interfaith pavilion and the summit of religious leaders. Emphasizing the important role played by Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazadeh in this matter, the chairman of the Council and the general secretary asked the chairman of the CMI to address the issue to the leadership of Azerbaijan and organize the visit of the general secretary Muhammad Abdussalam to our country to hold meetings with the Azerbaijani officials.
Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade said that the Council gained valuable experience at the last UN climate change conference, he hopes that this experience will contribute to the COP29 conference to be held in Baku, and for this he will meet with the relevant authorities of the Azerbaijan state.
