A second powerful explosion occurred on the Sun – 2024-03-29 16:38:49

The Sun experienced a second strong M-class flare in two days.

Publika.az TASS was informed about this by the Institute of Applied Geophysics (FSBI IPG).

“On March 10 at 15:13 Moscow time, an M7.4 flare lasting 31 minutes in the X-ray band was detected in sunspot group 3599 (S13W38),” the report said.

It is noted that during the last 24 hours, the impact of solar X-rays on the Earth’s ionosphere was at the level of R2, which is a moderate indicator.

It should be noted that on the night of March 9, a strong high-grade M solar flare was reported. According to the Heliogeophysics Service of the Institute, an M1.3 flare lasting 13 minutes was recorded in the X-ray range.

Space weather monitoring has shown that during the last 24 hours, the impact of solar flares on the Earth’s ionosphere is the lowest, R1, on a scale of five, with R1 being low impact and R5 being extreme.

Scientists explained that solar flares are divided into five classes depending on the strength of X-ray radiation: A, B, C, M and X. Flares are often accompanied by emissions of solar plasma when they reach Earth and cause magnetic storms.
