This is the result of the presidential election in Senegal which surprised all observers of African politics. The vote was won by opponent Bassirou Diomaye Faye, a substitute candidate, replacing the leader of his party in prison. From Monday evening, his supporters took to the streets to celebrate his victory after the authorities announced the 50.7% of votes he had already collected. The president immediately congratulated him, as did the government candidate Amadou Bah. This is an example for all of Africa where the heads of state in place were all reappointed after elections where the electoral process was contested. They were elected after a turbulent electoral period. In Senegal, we believed that the pattern would be identical, but the country’s leaders were very active and legality was respected. The population’s desire for change has prevailed over all the calculations of the leaders of power.
The situation in the Middle East is still worrying. The stubbornness of Benyamin Netanyahu’s Israeli cabinet despairs the entire international community and the United States in the lead while a resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire and the release of the hostages was voted on in the Security Council. The head of the Israeli government refuses to stop military operations in the Gaza Strip and does not allow trucks carrying aid from Egypt to enter the blocked territories. International organizations no longer know what to do because the famine that reigns there is destructive. The bombings cause tens of thousands of victims.
A few days after the deadly attack which took place in Moscow, the authorities blamed the Ukrainians for the conduct of the operations carried out by the terrorists. Communication has been reorganized and the pattern is completely clear: the attack was staged in collaboration with the Ukrainians. The funds used were paid in cryptocurrencies.
The response given to the President of the National Assembly who dared to stand up against power was not long in coming. The HCC responded favorably to the request of the secretary general of the TGV party. Everyone is waiting for what happens next, but the opponents, despite the accuracy of their arguments, cannot win their case for the moment. The population, however, remains attentive to everything that is happening at the moment.
